Pseudonymous Bitcoin figure CobraBitcoin is warning of a new security threat as frontier AI models reach unprecedented capabilities in vulnerability discovery and exploit development. OpenAI announced that its GPT-6 Astra model is the first to achieve the « Critical » cybersecurity level under its Preparedness Framework, scoring a perfect 100% on the ExploitBench benchmark. On May 29, security researcher Taylor Hornby discovered a critical vulnerability in Zcash’s Orchard shielded pool that could have allowed attackers to create unlimited counterfeit ZEC undetected. In response to these risks, a group of Bitcoin developers and researchers formed the « Bitcoin Red Team » to combine AI systems with human review to scan the open-source ecosystem.
