U.S. forces carried out their first military strike against Iran in a month on Sunday, destroying rocket launchers belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that were preparing to deploy sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz. This attack breaks a month-long lull in fighting during a conflict that has lasted more than six months. Iran announced that several of its fighters were killed or wounded and pledged to punish the aggressor. The Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil normally flows, has seen maritime traffic drop to about 24 vessels per week compared to roughly 130 daily before the conflict. An unidentified projectile also struck a tanker ship on Saturday north of Khasab, Oman.
