FC Barcelona is under investigation by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for allegedly making improper contact with Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, who remains under contract with Atlético Madrid until 2030. Atlético Madrid filed a formal complaint on June 30, 2026, accusing Barcelona of making a 100 million euro offer outside the designated transfer windows and bypassing the club to approach the player directly. Barcelona denies any wrongdoing and expresses confidence the investigation will not result in sanctions. Depending on the RFEF’s findings, potential consequences could range from fines to transfer restrictions, with the possibility of the case being escalated to FIFA.
