Amazon, Uber, DoorDash, and Walmart are taking the delivery wars to the skies

Major U.S. delivery giants are dramatically scaling up their drone delivery programs. Amazon plans to expand Prime Air to nearly 500 U.S. cities and towns by the end of 2026, up from 11 locations currently, delivering products weighing up to five pounds in as little as 30 minutes. Uber has partnered with Zipline, valued at $7.6 billion, to achieve one million drone deliveries per day by the end of 2029. Walmart is approaching 2 million drone deliveries and projects a network of over 270 aerial delivery points by 2027, covering more than 40 million Americans. These expansions come as a recent incident in Texas saw an Amazon drone drop a package directly into a backyard pool.
