Alphabet seeks $25B from latest bond sale as Big Tech’s AI spending spree accelerates

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, plans to raise up to $25 billion through a new bond offering, including $17.5 billion in US notes and approximately 6.5 billion euros in European debt. The company has announced capital expenditure plans ranging from $175 to $185 billion for 2026, more than double the previous year. Meta and Nvidia have also conducted similar operations with offerings of $30 billion and $25 billion respectively. Alphabet has invested approximately $1.5 billion in blockchain-related companies since 2021-2022. The substantial energy demands from building data centers for AI could create competitive pressure on Bitcoin miners in regions where cheap electricity is scarce.
