Alpen Labs, a MIT-founded startup, announced that over 21 partners have begun integrating on Testnet III, its testing environment built on Bitcoin Signet. The goal is to stress-test the Strata bridge, core infrastructure using a 1-of-N trust model where only one operator across the entire set needs to be honest to maintain security. The company is also developing Bitcoin Dollar (BTD), a BTC-backed stablecoin in partnership with the Liquity team. Alpen Labs has raised approximately $19.1 million, including $10.6 million in a seed round in April 2024 led by Ribbit Capital with participation from Castle Island Ventures and Stillmark. The public testnet went live on August 4, 2025, and the Testnet III partner announcement was made on July 28, 2026.
