A coordinated Bitcoin security campaign uncovered 4,962 software issues across 390 open-source projects in about 30 hours, leveraging 16 security researchers and AI tools. Among these findings, 85 were critical and 635 were high-severity, totaling 720 serious issues. The team worked at a pace of approximately 166 findings per hour, achieving 2.3 critical or high-severity issues per person-hour spent reviewing software. Crypto libraries and software development kits accounted for the largest share of findings with 1,385 reported issues. Researchers have begun sending verified critical findings to affected project maintainers with proof-of-concept retest demonstrations.
