The cryptocurrency market endured a challenging second quarter, with global capitalization declining by 12.6 %, or 304.8 billion dollars, settling at 2.1 trillion dollars by the end of June, its lowest level since September 2024. The most significant correction occurred in June, driven by a restrictive tone from the US Federal Reserve, tensions between the United States and Iran, and a symbolic Bitcoin sale by Strategy. Spot trading volumes on the ten leading platforms dropped by 27.9 % to 1.95 trillion dollars, while stablecoins contracted by 4.8 billion dollars. Conversely, predictive markets set a historical record in June with a notional volume of 52.8 billion dollars, up 91.9 % compared to their five-month average.
