Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, predicts that a debt bubble linked to artificial intelligence infrastructure could trigger a financial crisis worse than 2008, which he expects around mid-2028. According to Morgan Stanley, global data center needs could reach nearly $3 trillion between 2025 and 2028, with approximately half potentially uncovered by expected cash flows. Meta closed a $27 billion financing deal for its Hyperion data center in Louisiana, and the Financial Times identified over $120 billion in spending shifted to off-balance-sheet vehicles by several industry players. Hayes anticipates massive monetary intervention from US authorities to absorb losses, which could benefit Bitcoin after an initial decline.
