A fake request sent to Revolut, claiming to be from a government authority, successfully bypassed the digital bank’s security checks. The attacker gained access to sensitive KYC data including names, addresses, contact details, IDs, verification selfies, IBANs, account statements, and transaction histories, including Bitcoin activity. ZachXBT suggested the breach primarily targeted high-net-worth customers, although Revolut has not confirmed the exact number or profile of those affected. The incident occurred after the OCC granted Revolut conditional approval to establish a national bank in the United States.
