Iran eases currency rules to bypass US sanctions with crypto: Report

Iran’s central bank has eased foreign currency controls to encourage businesses to repatriate overseas earnings, including through cryptocurrency. According to the Financial Times, exporters can now use their foreign currency earnings to finance imports without going through the official exchange system. Cross-border transactions can be made using tether (USDT) and bitcoin through Iranian exchange platforms. The US Treasury Department has seized approximately $1 billion in cryptocurrency assets linked to Iran and frozen an additional $130 million held in wallets associated with the Central Bank of Iran.
