AMC chief criticizes Robinhood’s tokenized stock plan

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdings, criticized Robinhood’s tokenized stock offerings as « outrageous » and unregistered under US securities laws. He stated that the company has no affiliation with these products and that it will request an investigation from its outside securities counsel. These tokens, issued by Robinhood Assets from Jersey as ERC-20 tokens, provide economic exposure to US stocks but may not be offered to US investors and are subject to restrictions in Canada, Switzerland and the UK. Vlad Tenev, co-founder and CEO of Robinhood, responded by asking Aron to share his exact concerns about the offering. In October 2025, Robinhood had announced plans to tokenize nearly 500 US stocks and ETFs on Arbitrum.
