The European Union has officially joined « Operation Economic Outcast, » the U.S.-led sanctions campaign aimed at severing Iran from the global financial system. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent praised Brussels for the decision made on August 31, describing the effort as an « economic onslaught » against Tehran’s financial connections. The campaign targets Iran’s access to digital assets, advanced technology, gold reserves, commercial aviation, and shipping. Iran condemned the move as « economic terrorism » and accused the EU of having « surrendered its sovereignty » to U.S. coercion. Meanwhile, military hostilities have intensified in the Middle East, with U.S. strikes on Iran and Iranian retaliatory strikes on American bases in the region.
