Charter CFO’s move to Blackstone-Google AI venture signals where finance talent is flowing

Jessica Fischer, CFO of Charter Communications since 2021, will leave the company on October 15 to join a newly formed Blackstone and Google joint venture focused on AI infrastructure. Blackstone is committing $5 billion in equity to the project, which targets 500 megawatts of capacity by 2027. Google will provide its AI chips while former Google infrastructure executive Benjamin Treynor Sloss will serve as CEO. The hire illustrates the migration of experienced finance talent from traditional sectors into the AI ecosystem as companies race to build massive computing capacity. Charter, which faces steeper-than-expected broadband subscriber losses, must now search for a permanent new chief financial officer.
