Tesla posted on X teasing its upcoming fully autonomous Cybercab vehicles with messages like ‘No steering wheel, no pedals,’ inviting users to ‘try it out’ in Austin, Texas. The company has deployed approximately 200 vehicles registered as ‘unsupervised’ across several U.S. cities including Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. Tesla has received authorization for 45 Cybercab vehicles for driverless operations in Texas, out of 420 total vehicles approved in the state. By comparison, Waymo (a Google subsidiary) already operates a commercial robotaxi service in 14 U.S. cities with a fleet of roughly 4,000 driverless vehicles. Morgan Stanley has a $400 price target on Tesla, whose shares have declined approximately 21% year-to-date.
