In August 2026, AI-related job cuts reached 3,462, the lowest monthly figure since December 2025, following a record high of 38,579 in May. Year-to-date AI-related layoffs have reached 87,714, already surpassing the full-year 2025 total of 54,836 in just five months. AI now accounts for 22% of all layoffs in 2026, compared to less than 8% in 2025. Oracle delivered the largest AI-linked workforce reduction with approximately 21,000 job eliminations. Overall tech layoffs have already exceeded 175,000 in 2026.
