Trump’s Pharma Pricing Deal Expands as Healthcare Stocks Keep Climbing

Healthcare stocks wrapped up their best quarter yet. President Trump added nine more pharmaceutical firms to his drug-pricing deal on Monday, bringing the total to 26 companies representing 90% of the domestic pharmaceutical market. The nine new firms, including Alcon, Astellas Pharma, and Teva Pharmaceuticals, pledged a combined $19.6 billion toward U.S. manufacturing. The SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (XBI) has climbed 80% in the last 12 months. According to UBS, the pricing deals have proven less onerous than feared, removing a major source of uncertainty for the sector.
