Anthropic faces class action over misleading Claude Max pricing

Share

A class-action lawsuit was filed on June 14 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California against Anthropic PBC. Plaintiff Karl Kahn alleges that the company systematically misled subscribers about the actual usage limits of its Claude Max 5x and Max 20x subscription tiers. The Max 5x plan allegedly delivers roughly 3.5 times the Pro plan’s usage instead of the promised 5 times, while the Max 20x plan reportedly provides between 6 and 8 times usage instead of the advertised 20 times. Kahn is seeking over $5 million in damages and class-action status for all subscribers since April 9, 2025. The legal claims include violations of California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act and the state’s False Advertising Laws.
