According to research by Online Risk Labs, Temu spent up to $962 million on ads on Meta platforms between January 2025 and April 2026 in the UK and 27 EU countries. Of the top 100 creators boosted by Temu’s partnership ads, 73 are likely fake, including the account Ya Lily, presented as Temu’s top creator whose real existence is highly uncertain. These fake creators generated over one billion views on Facebook and Instagram through approximately 109,541 ad campaigns. This practice raises major legal concerns in Europe, where the law prohibits misleading advertising formats and requires transparent labeling of AI-generated content.
