Leveraged funds more than doubled their net short position in XRP to 115.7 million tokens on the CME market as open interest surged 39.6% in one week. Total open interest reached approximately 389.2 million XRP, representing an increase of 110.3 million tokens during a sharp recovery that saw the token rebound about 32% from $1 to near $1.38. In contrast, dealers and asset managers increased their net-long positions by 59.75 million and 28.25 million XRP-equivalents respectively. The CFTC does not disclose whether leveraged-fund shorts are outright bearish bets or hedges, leaving their next move crucial if XRP keeps rising. If XRP continues climbing while leveraged funds maintain or expand their short exposure, the gap between price momentum and institutional positioning will widen further.
