UAE air defense systems have intercepted the majority of an Iranian barrage that began in early March 2026, in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, 2026. The Emirati military detected 1,422 Iranian drones, destroying 1,342 of them, achieving an interception rate of roughly 94 percent. All 8 cruise missiles fired at the UAE were neutralized, along with 221 of 238 ballistic missiles launched. Emirati armed forces report two combat fatalities, while 80 drones reached ground or facilities. Iran targeted the UAE due to its role in American military infrastructure in the region.
