Bitcoin fell below $77,000, losing over $2,000 of its value after surpassing $79,000 on Sunday evening, amid renewed geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran. US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak island on Sunday before Iran retaliated against military targets stationed in Jordan, triggering a nearly 3% surge in Brent crude oil above $90 per barrel. The situation was further aggravated by a transfer of 5,100 BTC, worth nearly $400 million, made by market maker Wintermute to Binance, suggesting an intent to sell. This decline led to over $400 million in liquidations on a daily scale, with more than 100,000 over-leveraged traders wiped out.
