President Zelensky announced on August 28 that Ukraine will triple its long-range drone operations from over 300 to 1,000 daily launches. The announcement followed a Russian drone strike that killed between 27 and 37 civilians in the Kyiv region. The strikes target Russian oil and military infrastructure as part of an economic warfare strategy designed to reduce Moscow’s revenues. This intensification represents an operational tempo of roughly one drone every 86 seconds around the clock. Ukraine is also expanding its interceptor fleet to counter Russia’s growing arsenal of Shahed drones.
