US Secures 65 Billion Barrels of Venezuelan Oil: Could This Be Bullish for Bitcoin?

Share

The United States has secured majority control of over 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves through an agreement involving Washington, Caracas, and private businesses. President Trump called it the « biggest oil deal in world history » and said it would substantially increase America’s effective oil reserves and ultimately bring down fuel prices. Analysts at the Kobeissi Letter noted that this acquisition would bring US-controlled reserves to approximately 110 billion barrels, roughly 7% of global proven reserves. However, these are reserves rather than immediate supply, as Venezuela currently produces only around 1.2 million barrels per day due to years of underinvestment and deteriorating infrastructure. In the long term, a significant increase in Venezuelan production could lower oil prices, reduce inflationary pressure, and give the Federal Reserve more room to ease monetary policy, which would be considered bullish for cryptocurrencies.
