Solana’s first-ever on-chain vote on tokenomics reform has seen U.S. crypto exchange Kraken completely reverse its position, switching from NO to YES on the deflationary proposal. This proposal (SGP-0002) aims to double the disinflation rate from 15% to 30%, cutting SOL issuance by 18.9 million tokens, equivalent to $1.5 billion. Support currently stands at 65.15%, but remains 1.52 percentage points short of the mandatory two-thirds approval threshold. The related SGP-0003 proposal on transaction fee burning has already failed. Any eventual activation will require at least 4.5 months of technical coordination.
