South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb won first-instance rulings in two lawsuits seeking to recover proceeds from users who sold Bitcoin mistakenly credited to their accounts. The error occurred on February 6, 2026 during a promotional event when an employee accidentally credited 620,000 BTC, worth over $40 billion at the time, instead of the intended 620,000 won reward. The courts ordered two users to pay 194 million won ($140,000) and 5 million won ($3,600) respectively. Two other cases involving approximately 14.8 million won and 500 million won remain pending.
