Big Short’s Michael Burry Sounds Alarm on AI Trade

Michael Burry, the investor famous for anticipating the 2008 subprime crisis, has increased his short positions in Nvidia, Oracle, Palantir, and Nebius, which now represent over 21% of his portfolio. In a Substack post published on August 26, he does not question Nvidia’s operational excellence but doubts that its economic dominance will last long enough to justify its current valuation. Burry believes the market is overvaluing the longevity of Nvidia’s exceptional margins and those of its AI sector equivalents. He has also purchased December call options with strikes around $200 as a hedge, representing 3.5 to 4% of his portfolio.
