Apple’s China memory demand of 600M GB exceeds CXMT’s capacity through 2027

Apple needs 600 million gigabytes of DRAM from China’s top manufacturer, ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), but CXMT is fully booked through 2027 and even its projected 2028 output of 10,000 million GB will only cover half of China’s total demand of roughly 20,000 million GB. CXMT’s utilization rate stands at 95.73% in 2025, holding 8-11% of global DRAM wafer capacity. With global DRAM supply-demand imbalances expected to widen through 2027, Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron stand to benefit from elevated pricing, with DRAM price hikes of 50-60% in 2026. Apple has responded by increasing prices for its iPad and MacBook devices.
