In February 2025, Bybit suffered the theft of 1.46 billion dollars by the Lazarus group, exploiting both technical and human vulnerabilities. Eighteen months later, the platform, now the world’s second-largest exchange by trading volume, has thoroughly redesigned its security philosophy around a proactive three-tier defense system. During the first six months of 2026, Bybit intercepted more than 30,000 suspicious withdrawal requests, protecting nearly 20,000 users from potential losses exceeding 700 million dollars, with an average risk assessment time of 4.7 minutes. Artificial intelligence enabled the processing of over 100,000 alerts and the detection of critical vulnerabilities three to five times faster than manual review. Bybit has also filed legal proceedings against North Korea and the Lazarus group, an unprecedented move in the sector.
