Iran’s newly formed Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has blacklisted 45 oil tankers for alleged transit violations in the Strait of Hormuz. The list includes vessels from Saudi Arabia (Bahri), the UAE (ADNOC L&S), Norway (Klaveness), the Netherlands (Stolt), and South Korea (Sinokor), operating very large crude carriers, LNG carriers, and chemical tankers. Violating vessels face fines, detention, and cargo confiscation. Iran’s goal is to extend its reach beyond the strait itself by penalizing ship-to-ship transfers with listed tankers. This decision comes amid a six-month regional conflict, intensified US naval presence, and American threats of the toughest-ever sanctions on Iranian oil exports.
