Consortium 1892 Holdings, led by Jeff Bezos, Amit Bhatia, and Eduardo Saverin, has acquired a 38% stake in Liverpool Football Club for approximately £2 billion (around $2.7 billion) from Fenway Sports Group. FSG had purchased the club in 2010 for £300 million when it was on the brink of bankruptcy. Liverpool FC is now valued between £5 billion and £6 billion. Bezos, the third richest person in the world with a net worth of $273 billion, is investing in European football alongside dozens of other American investors who hold majority stakes in most Premier League clubs. The investment follows a long-term philosophy aligned with Warren Buffett’s patient investment approach, which Bezos had previously asked him about directly.
