Bitcoin Sees Biggest-Ever Short Liquidation Volume as It Surges to Nearly $70K

Bitcoin climbed to a high of $68,982.40 before easing to around $68,189.62, representing a gain of roughly 5.4%. This move marked Bitcoin’s first break above $68,000 since June. According to K33 Research, Bitcoin perpetual futures recorded approximately $1.1 billion in short liquidations in a single day, surpassing previous peaks of $757 million in May 2021 and $694 million in November 2025. Total crypto liquidations reached $1.92 billion over 24 hours, with short positions accounting for $1.74 billion. The largest individual liquidation was a roughly $48.8 million BTC-USD position on Hyperliquid. The rally coincided with a sharp rise in U.S. long-term Treasury yields, with the 30-year yield climbing to roughly 5.34%, its highest level since 2007.
