Self, USA₮, and Google Cloud have launched a stablecoin distribution program on the Celo blockchain. The system uses zero-knowledge proofs to verify passports and distribute regulated dollars without exposing any personal data. USA₮ was deployed on Celo on July 29, 2026 and operates as gas currency on the network. The stablecoin is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. and backed by Tether, with OFAC compliance checks performed cryptographically. Celo, which has ranked first for USD₮ usage by weekly active users since 2024, serves tens of millions of users through mobile-integrated wallets.
