Shares of Spanish company Deoleo, the world’s largest olive oil bottler and marketer, jumped over 17% on Wednesday morning. Spanish agri-food cooperative group Dcoop has offered 470 million euros ($545 million) for Deoleo, taking the lead in a takeover battle that also involves Italian, French and Australian firms. Deoleo owns major olive oil brands such as Bertolli and Carbonell. Spain, alongside Italy and Greece, is one of the world’s leading olive oil producers and a global reference for commodity prices.
