MAYAChain, a cross-chain decentralized exchange, halted its network after an attacker exploited six chained software bugs to steal an estimated $1.7 million in crypto assets. The attacker used a single transaction containing 23 messages to trigger a false theft detection, inflate a low-liquidity pool and drain 48.87 million CACAO tokens from Maya’s Asgard module. The stolen funds consisted of approximately 20 Bitcoin worth $1.4 million and another $300,000 in various assets, with $1.36 million transferred to external blockchains. CACAO’s price collapsed by 88.7%, dropping from approximately $0.115 to $0.013 during the incident.
