Dutch prosecutors have sold the remaining cryptocurrency recovered from the failed crypto platform Knaken for 2.2 million euros. The Rotterdam District Court declared the company bankrupt on July 16, 2026, after Knaken failed to obtain the regulatory authorization required to serve Dutch customers under the new European Union crypto rules. Approximately 7 million euros in customer funds are believed to be missing. The platform, which had around 30,000 customers, was founded in Rotterdam in 2017 and had gained visibility among mainstream Dutch consumers through sponsorship partnerships with several Dutch football clubs.
