Earnings from Walmart and other top retailers will give investors more clues on the housing market and how consumers are grappling with inflation

The Federal Reserve will release the minutes from its July meeting on Wednesday, during which it held interest rates steady amid concerns about stubborn inflation. Inflation remains solidly above 3%, and rising oil prices prompted by the ongoing US tensions with Iran have pushed gasoline prices higher. These retailers’ results will show how businesses and consumers are handling persistently high inflation, particularly regarding the housing market and household spending. Wall Street expects at least one rate hike before the end of 2026.
