Gen Z is increasingly turning to healthcare jobs to protect themselves from AI replacement, attracted by low unemployment rates and potential earnings exceeding $200,000. However, a 2025 study by shift work platform Deputy, surveying 1.28 million users, reveals that doctors’ offices and medical clinics have the highest dissatisfaction rate, with nearly 38% of respondents unhappy in their jobs. Chiropractors and emergency services staff are close behind, and four out of the five least satisfying jobs in the UK are in healthcare. The main causes are staffing shortages, emotional strain, unpredictable rosters, and an aging population. Conversely, the hospitality sector dominates the happiness rankings, with satisfaction rates exceeding 82% for restaurant, fast-food, and café employees.
