Google is rolling out Gemini AI features in the Classroom app for students, starting August 10, 2026 for web and August 17, 2026 for mobile. Students in eligible Google Workspace for Education accounts will be able to get help with math problems, writing feedback, quiz generation, flashcard creation, and image generation, all derived from teacher-uploaded content. This feature is available at no additional cost across Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus editions, building on over 30 AI tools launched for teachers in June 2025. Google has implemented strict safety controls for younger users, scoping AI responses to teacher-curated materials rather than open internet access. This move positions Google competitively against Microsoft Copilot and integrates Classroom into Google’s broader AI ecosystem alongside Gemini and NotebookLM.
