Elon Musk announced during an internal SpaceX address on August 11 that artificial intelligence would account for 99% of the company’s value within four to five years, relegating rockets and Starlink to a secondary role. AI revenue reached $2.6 billion in the second quarter, a 213% increase from the previous quarter, on total revenue of $7.8 billion. SpaceX spent approximately $16 billion on AI infrastructure during the same quarter and plans to reach between 10 and 20 gigawatts of computing capacity by the end of 2027 to generate between $300 and $500 billion in annual revenue. The fulfillment of this promise depends entirely on SpaceX’s ability to execute this unprecedented expansion plan.
