World Liberty Financial delays digital token sale tied to Trump resort in Maldives

World Liberty Financial, the decentralized finance platform linked to the Trump family, has indefinitely postponed its digital token sale tied to revenue from a luxury resort in the Maldives. The project, announced in February 2026, was designed to let accredited investors buy tokens representing interest payments on loans financing the Trump International Hotel & Resort, scheduled to open in 2030. The group partnered with DarGlobal for property development and Securitize, backed by BlackRock, for technical infrastructure. Approximately six months after the initial announcement, no public statement has explained the reasons for the delay. The Maldives venture represented a pivot for WLFI, which was attempting to diversify beyond its $WLFI governance token and stablecoin products.
