As retail crypto trades collapse 73%, eToro drops $231 million to capture active US stock traders

In July, eToro’s crypto trades plummeted 73% to 1.4 million transactions, with the average amount invested per trade halved to $182. Despite this decline, the platform’s quarterly net contribution rose 9% to $229 million, boosted by stronger equity trading activity. To strengthen its US presence, eToro agreed to pay up to $231 million to acquire TradeZero, a US broker specializing in active stock trading. The deal, expected to close in the first half of 2027 pending regulatory approvals, would reduce eToro’s reliance on any single asset class.
