Ron Baron, the legendary investor and founder of Baron Capital, has transformed an initial investment in SpaceX made in 2017, when the company’s valuation was under $22 billion, into a position worth approximately $25 billion following the company’s IPO in June 2026. SpaceX raised approximately $75 billion during its IPO, valuing the company between $1.77 and $1.8 trillion, making it one of the largest public offerings in history. Baron anticipates the company could reach a valuation between $20 trillion and $40 trillion over the next decade, based on the expansion of its business lines, the success of the Starlink satellite constellation, and the potential of the Starship program for deep space missions. This position now represents between 25% and 33% of certain Baron Capital mutual funds, making it one of the biggest single-company bets in mutual fund history.
