Microsoft is reportedly planning to unveil its Maia 300 custom AI chip and seeks to secure manufacturing capacity for 300,000 units from TSMC for future delivery. This chip would deliver over 30% more tokens per dollar compared to Microsoft’s current hardware. The company is in talks with TSMC regarding a 2027 capacity allocation as part of its efforts to strengthen its in-house accelerator line for Azure and reduce dependence on NVIDIA.
