Circle deployed its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on the Stellar network in May 2026, driving a 34.7% surge in USDC supply on the chain over 30 days to reach $365.5 million. CCTP enables USDC transfers between Stellar and 23 other blockchains using a burn-and-mint mechanism, eliminating the need for wrapped tokens or third-party bridges vulnerable to hacks. Stellar, which has hosted USDC since February 2021, has processed over 4.5 million USDC transactions with total payment volume exceeding $3 billion. USDC market cap on Stellar represents approximately 0.5% of the stablecoin’s total supply of nearly $72 billion. This growth confirms Stellar’s positioning as the go-to infrastructure for low-cost cross-border payments and remittances.
