The XRP Ledger has launched its first privacy-focused amendment with version 3.3.0. This amendment, called Confidential Transfer (XLS-0096), enables encryption of Multi-Purpose Token balances and transfer amounts on the XRP blockchain using EC-ElGamal cryptography and zero-knowledge proofs. Transactions remain shielded from public view while maintaining compliance mechanisms allowing authorized entities to verify total supply and meet regulatory obligations. The On-Chain Cosigner proposal, which brings native on-chain multi-signature coordination, was also submitted this week.
