A New Mexico judge ordered Meta to pay $567 million into a fund dedicated to repairing the psychological harm inflicted on young users of its platforms. Meta must also delete accounts and personal data of all users under 13 and deploy AI-based age assurance tools within a two-year development window. The company has stated it disagrees with the ruling and plans to appeal.
