On Aug. 7, a wallet associated with the Coldcard hardware wallet hack transferred 30.185 BTC, worth approximately $1.94 million, to a newly created address. This marks the first movement of funds since the initial theft, representing only about 1.5% of the estimated 2,055 BTC linked to the hack. The total theft is valued at roughly $130 million and stems from a security flaw in Coldcard device firmware. Analysts are now monitoring whether further transfers will follow, which could indicate an attempted cash-out of the stolen funds. Galaxy Research has shared attacker and victim address details with U.S. law enforcement agencies and cryptocurrency exchanges.
