MARA swings to Q2 loss as Bitcoin’s slump masks higher output

MARA posted a net loss of $611.3 million in Q2 2026, compared to profit of $808.2 million a year earlier, or $1.60 per diluted share. This underperformance was driven by a 28% decline in the average Bitcoin price, offsetting a 3% increase in mining production to 2,422 Bitcoin mined. As of June 30, MARA held 35,577 Bitcoin worth $2.1 billion, making it the fourth-largest public holder globally after Strategy, Twenty One Capital and Metaplanet. The company is simultaneously developing AI and high-performance computing capabilities, targeting at least two lease signings by year-end.
