A salmonella outbreak linked to jalapeño peppers has sickened at least 345 people in 27 U.S. states, primarily in Minnesota and Colorado. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 93% of the 191 people interviewed had eaten at Mexican-style restaurants, including Chipotle and Qdoba, between June 14 and July 14. The contaminated peppers were traced to a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, and distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors, which issued a recall. Thirty-six people were hospitalized but no deaths were reported. Chipotle Mexican Grill’s stock price tumbled nearly 10% following the outbreak.
